40 Celebrities With Truly Puzzling Eating Habits

It’s no secret that there’s a lot of media scrutiny on celebrities, and the pressure on your favorite stars to look good 24/7 is immense. Strict diets and eating habits, then, are probably par for the course. But there are some stars who take those habits to extremes and into the borderline obsessive. Whether it’s unusual food combinations, questionable tastes or just plain icky, we’ve uncovered the oddball dining quirks of the rich and famous…

1. J-Lo takes her coffee counterclockwise

Let’s face it, with the singer and actress looking that good in her 50s, we all want to know her foodie secrets, no matter how unconventional. Well, since it’s as basic as the rumor that she’ll only take coffee that’s been stirred in a counterclockwise direction, we’re prepared to give it a go. Which leads us to the question: if a cook in the kitchen stirs J.Lo’s coffee in a clockwise direction and no one else is there to see it, will she ever even know?

2. Shailene Woodley eats clay

The star of the Divergent TV series had a shocking admission when she appeared on The David Letterman Show in 2014: she eats clay as a means of detoxification. The actress claimed, “Clay binds to other materials in your body and helps your body excrete those materials that aren’t necessarily the best for you.” Yet website WebMD says, “It might also cause lead poisoning, muscle weakness, intestinal blockage, skin sores, or breathing problems.” So probably don’t eat clay.

3. Marilyn Monroe drank raw eggs and milk

For one of the most desirable women in history, Monroe rarely gave her figure a second thought until she became famous. Though she eventually developed her own weight training regimen, her eating habits raised a few eyebrows. The actress would start her day by heating a mug of milk on a hot plate. Then, as she described in 1952 to Pageant magazine, “When it’s hot, I break two raw eggs into the milk, whip them up with a fork, and drink them while I’m dressing.” This is your friendly reminder that eggs when not cooked thoroughly can cause salmonella.

4. Warren Buffett drinks five cokes a day

We’re all told it as kids: eat your greens and you will grow up strong. Finish your green beans and you’ll be taller. But what if you want to be a billionaire? Well, if Berkshire Hathaway CEO Buffett is any inspiration, eat “like a six-year-old.” The seventh-richest man in the world drinks no fewer than five Coca-Colas every day, with the first consumed at the breakfast table. It washes down all the ice cream and potato sticks he eats.
